A Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Friend

Leona Mary Meisner passed away on November 6, 2023.

As in life, her final days were spent surrounded by family.  Leona Meisner was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a wonderful friend to all she met.

Leona was born in Rainy River, Ontario, where she later moved to Atikokan, Ontario, with her siblings and parents Myles and Viola Hogan.

There she met her husband William Robert Meisner and on March 16, 1974, they married. They had 8 wonderful children.  Bradley Walker, Danny Walker, Tammi Walker, Brenda Walker, Robert Walker, Heather Walker, Kenny Meisner, and Melissa Meisner.

From there, they moved to Grande Cache, Alberta, where they stayed for one year before moving to Hinton, Alberta. This is where Leona and Bill set down their roots until their remaining years of life.

Her smile, her laughter and her amazing heart towards everyone was one of a kind. She touched so many lives and was the glue to the family.

She worked hard every day until she retired.  She was strong-willed yet compassionate and always put others before herself. Her unconditional love and support were felt by all that she met.

She loved the outdoors, traveling, planting flowers and enjoying time on her deck listening to music, watching the birds and spending time with her family and friends.

Spending time with her grandchildren and dogs were just a few of the things that lit up her eyes and made her day, even on her final days with us.

Time may pass and fade away but memories of you will always stay.

Leona was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Robert Meisner, her son Kenny Walker, daughter Heather Walker, and son Bradley Walker.

Leona will be greatly missed by her son Danny Walker of Hinton, daughter Tammi Walker (Dave) of Hinton, daughter Brenda Walker of Hinton, son Robert Walker of Grand Cache and daughter Melissa Bennett (Craig) of Hinton; her grandchildren Michelle Viney (Cory), Natasha Lakusta (Chris), Mitchell Walker, Stéphanie Walker (Steve), Kyle Walker, Mary Bark (David), April Schuetze (Matt), Annika, Paige and Hannah Bennett; her great grandchildren Calla, Nash, Hannah, Hayden, Henrik, Halina, Faith, Cali, Rhaya, Carter and Chase.
