Jessie Mae "Lucy" Wright

<p>Jessie Mae “Lucy” Wright, 84, passed away at Tallahatchie Extended Care in Charleston on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Born October 2, 1939, in Yalobusha County, she was the daughter of the late Louis Redwine and the late Vera Melton Redwine. On August 16, 1958, she married the love of her life, John Wright, and they spent over 56 wonderful years together until his passing in 2014. She attended Coffeeville High School, and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family. She was a member of WMU, taught Sunday school, and kept the nursery. </p><p>She worked at Kellwood for a time, but spent most of her life caring for others, from babysitting the neighborhood kids to sitting with the elderly women and helping them around the house. She loved sewing and crocheting, and was a wonderful cook. She made the best cathead biscuits and loved feeding people, and made you eat dessert no matter how full you were. She loved arts and crafts at the nursing home, and spent a lot of her time making dolls for little girls, which brought her so much joy. She was a precious soul and a very kind and sweet Christian woman. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. </p><p>Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wright family. </p><p>A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 3:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church in Big Creek. There will also be Visitation on Sunday from 1:00pm until service time at Shiloh Baptist Church. Bro. Mark Longino will be officiating, with Bro. Truman Scarbrough delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. </p><p>Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Wright, Jared Wright, Jordan Childs, Dustin Wright, Slade Redwine, Derrick Redwine, and Phil Harrison.</p><p>She leaves behind her daughter, Diana Childs and her husband Donald of Grenada; sons, John Robert Wright and his wife Dawn of Grenada, and Sterling Wright and his wife Marie of Calhoun City; brother, Billy Redwine of Coffeeville; 4 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter on-the-way; and several nieces and nephews. </p><p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Vera Redwine; husband, John Wright; sisters, Louise Strickland and Cornelia Redwine; brothers, Louis Redwine, Jr., Tommy Redwine, Era Redwine, Luther “Buddy” Redwine, and Edward Redwine; and nephew, Patrick Redwine. </p><p>The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of Tallahatchie Extended Care for their love and kindness during her stay. </p><p>Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.pryorfuneralhome.com </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

Jessie Mae “Lucy” Wright, 84, passed away at Tallahatchie Extended Care in Charleston on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
