Shebra E Holmes, age 97, of Topeka, Kansas, The Matriarch of our family received her wings on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 at 11:10pm due to natural causes.

Shebra was born on January 30th, 1926 to Samuel and Estella Horne.Her spunk, friendly personality, beautiful penmanship, and smile will always be remembered. She was a member of the Mothers Board at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Colored Woman’s Club, and an active Foster Parent at KNI.

She worked at Topeka State Hospital, The Menninger Foundation, and The Boys Industrial School. Preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Estella Horne, her husband Frank Holmes, daughter, Beverly Patterson; and siblings Ferdinand, Lee Wilde, Catherine, Lofton, Marietta, Pearlee, Leo, & Geneva.

She is survived by children, James Donnelly Jr. and Saundra Donnelley; Grandchildren, Sean Jones, Leanna Donnelly, Theodore Shedd ll, and Nikole Patterson; Loving nieces Connie, Stephanie, Doris, and Marietta; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The last years of her life were spent peacefully in the care of her daughter Saundra, grandson Theodore, and granddaughter Nikole in Columbus, Ohio.

Visitation 1pm and Funeral 2pm Thursday November 9, 2023 at Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace East 5456 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio.
