Obituary

Destiny Ward 2002-2023

Heaven has opened its gates and welcomed one of its finest angels with Destiny’s passing. She leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all who loved her.

Destiny was truly beautiful inside and out. You could feel her energy when she walked in the room. She was bubbly, outgoing, vivacious, funny, silly, tenacious and genuine. She was uniquely one of a kind.

At 21, Destiny had experienced so much in life. We want to honor Destiny in a way we know she would want and to do that would be to share part of her story in an effort to help anyone who is on their pathway to recovery. She has touched so many lives and helped so many along their journey and it’s only right to continue carrying on her legacy.

Destiny was an addict. She battled addiction and fought hard to try to find her sobriety. Destiny was on her path and tried hard many times to start a new and better life for herself. She was ambitious. After she completed her 3 month sobriety program, she immediately came home, moved into an apartment with Nacole, a dear friend, got a job and started school with the dreams of owning her own beauty salon. Unfortunately, “addiction doesn’t discriminate, it will take hold and destroy anyone in its path, including the families and people who love them.” . As hard as Destiny tried, she was unable to overcome the stronghold that many addicts face. Destiny isn’t just another statistic or just ‘another one gone too soon,’ she was a great heart with a bright future and a gift that the world lost that can never be replaced.

Destiny was born on June 08, 2002 in Scottsdale, AZ and grew up in Fountain Hills. Destiny was raised by and the daughter of Lacey Lyons (Mother), Shawn Ward (Father), Mark Murphy (Bonus Dad), and Amy Michienzi (Bonus Mom).

Destiny is survived by her sister, Sierra Ward, Kaitlynn Lash(step-sister), Patrick and Marc Murphy, and Tony Michienzi (step-brothers), Andrea Daly (Aunt) & spouse Doug Daly as well as RJ Lyons (Uncle) and spouse TJ, Kimberly (bonus aunt), and husband Pete, and Jeremy (bonus uncle).

Also survived by her loving grand-parents; Terri Lyons (Maternal Grandmother), Ronald Lyons (Maternal Grandfather), Sarah Lyons (Bonus Granny), Joan Kobielski (Paternal Grandmother) and Rick Kobeilski (Paternal Grandfather).

Destiny found peace and joy sitting on the sand at the beach or jumping into the ocean waves. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore brought her comfort. She is now in heaven, dancing in the waves, free of her battles and finally at rest. Destiny is now our guardian angel, shining light on everyone she loved and adored. Destiny’s beautiful smile, like a warm summer day, lit up the room and our hearts. A sunflower, even in its darkest moments, always was able to find the light and use that light to share its beauty and wonder with the world. Destiny brought joy and that light to everyone’s path she crossed. She would want everyone she loved and cherished to live like a sunflower, as she did .
