Frances Louise Heneghan Obituary

Frances Louise Heneghan, aged 94, died on October 30, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Folsom, California. She was born on December 14, 1928 in Sullivan, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Lena (Laws) Emel.


Her father was a farmer and she went to school in a one-room country school until she went to high school. She was active in 4-H and church activities. She graduated from Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Illinois in 1947. She attended Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois where she was a member of the Phi Omega sorority. After several years at college she moved to Decatur, Illinois to work at the Decatur Signal Depot where she met and married Robert Heneghan in June 1953.


In 1961 they moved to Rancho Cordova, California when the Decatur Signal Depot closed. Louise was active in supporting her three daughters in band and choir activities, Girl Scouts, Job’s Daughters and the Rancho Cordova Girls Softball League. She was also active in PTA. She was a senior manager at Franchise Tax Board. She and her family were long time members of St. John Vianney church in Rancho Cordova. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the country after his retirement.


After her husband’s death in 1999, she moved to the Folsom area where she became active as an election volunteer and was a member of St. John’s church in Folsom. She enjoyed traveling with friends and visiting family in the Midwest.


In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert; a sister Marilyn (Jiggs) Richardson and a brother Stanley (Charlotte) Emel.


She is survived by daughters Leslie (John) Sieren, of Mather, California; Victoria (Luke) Reamer of Butte City, California; and Patti Heneghan of Southern California. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Kristi (Tommy) Alvarado of American Fork, Utah; Macy Reamer of American Fork, Utah; and Matt (Lindsey) Reamer of Bakersfield, California. Three great-grandchildren survive her: Ephraim, Oakley and Elizabeth Reamer of Bakersfield, California.


Per her wishes there will be no services. Private inurnment will take place at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Gustine, California.
