ARNAUDVILLE  ~  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Lee Roy Bourque, age 97, who passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville.


Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.


Mr. Bourque was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville. A veteran of the United States Navy, he fought during World War II on the U.S.S. Logan (APA 196). He retired with JB Mouton with 17 years of service in commercial construction and was a member of Carpenters Union with over 30 years of service. Lee Roy was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church.


Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Bernice Bertinot Bourque of Arnaudville; three sons, Larry Joseph Bourque and his wife, Loretta, Donald Gene Bourque, Sr. and his wife, Libbie, and Carl Anthony Bourque and his wife, Cheryl, all of Arnaudville; seven grandchildren, Jenness Lasater and her husband, Chad, Kyle Bourque, Dana Atkins and her husband, Jimmy, Donald Gene Bourque, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, and Cherie Nicole Boudreaux and her husband, Todd, and Kristin Tauzin and her husband, Cody and Shanna LeBlanc; his great grandchildren, Hannah, Sam, and Eli Lasater; Tanner, Kaitlyn, Logan, Christopher, and Zaylan Bourque, Allie and Ava Boudreaux, and Morgan and Carter Tauzin; and one two sisters, Muriel Wyble and Ella Mae Fontenot.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine Bourque and the former Regina Quebedeaux, both natives of Grand Coteau; three brothers, Leland Bourque and his wife, Joyce, Walter Bourque and his wife, Matilda, and Clement Bourque and his wife, Delta; and two sisters, Agnes Marks and her husband, Elie, and Bertha Meche and her husband, Robert; and one brother-in-law Louis Fontenot.


A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.


Pallbearers will be Larry Bourque, Kyle Bourque, Gene Bourque, Gene Bourque, Jr., Carl Bourque, and Cody Tauzin. Honorary pallbearers are Todd Boudreaux, Jimmy Atkins, Zaylan Bourque, Logan Bourque, and Chad Lasater.
