Kathleen Muncy

Kathleen Muncy, also known as Kathy, Mom, Grandma, or Granny, was born July 16, 1937 in Stettler. She was the third child of Walter and Margaret Halseth. Kathy was raised on a farm near Donalda where she attended the local country school. Trips to school were often done by horseback. Kathy enjoyed the farm life, was an experienced horse woman and nurtured farm animals. She met her “to be” husband at a dance. On June 12, 1957, Kathy married Ken Muncy from Halkirk. To this union, four children were born and all were raised on the family farm north of Halkirk: Rhonda Walgenbach (Peter Teskey) of Gadsby, Ronald (Deirdre) of Halkirk, Charles (Bernita) of Halkirk and Keith (Abbi) of Montgomery, Texas. Kathy was a life member of the Halkirk Royal Purple participating in all leadership roles. She also sat on the Westwoods Community Center executive for several years. In March 2007, after retiring from the farm life, Ken and Kathy moved to their new home in Stettler. Kathy, with her determined, independent spirit continued to maintain the house after Ken’s passing in 2011. She was an avid gardener, bowler, snowmobiler and fisherman. Her yard was the envy of many. She enjoyed the yearly family and fishing trips and owned her own RV which she continued to pull until 2022. Up to her last few days, she still had the wit and attitude known to us all.
