Jean C. "Peggy" Cutlip, 90, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018 at the Marquis Care of Forest Grove. Graveside Services will be held in the spring of 2018 at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 499 Watercrest Road in Forest Grove. JEAN COLLEEN "PEGGY" CUTLIP was born July 19, 1927 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the daughter of the late Arthur Maitland and Emily (Frost) Maitland. She was raised in the Watts district of Forest Grove and attended Forest Grove schools, having been a graduate of the Forest Grove High School Class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Daryl Robert Cutlip on November 20, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington. They celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary this past November. Following their marriage they made their home in the Forest Grove community, where they had resided since. Peggy had worked for the Forest Grove School district as a secretary for Joseph Gale Elementary School for twenty-five years, until the age of sixty-two years old when she retired. Among her Special Interests Peggy enjoyed traveling with her sister Bonnie domestically and abroad. Together they explored foreign countries including England, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, And Austria. Various domestic visits included Alaska and Hawaii with Bonnie and Niagara Falls with Daryl. Peggy and Bonnies preferred method of travel was by train when available. Her attendance in countless walks in and around the Portland area for pleasure and charity included "The Walk to End Alzheimers" and as a breast cancer survivor she consistently participated in the "Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure." Peggy was skilled at making bouquets of fresh flowers, roses were here favorite, from the garden at home. Her homemade pickles utilizing that same garden rarely lasted long after being opened and the family sought after every jar in the cabinets. She also loved walks on the Oregon beaches with Daryl and their beloved dogs Tibby, Lilly and Tibby 2. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emily Maitland and her sister, Bonnie Frye. Survivors include her husband, Daryl Cutlip, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Gloria Cutlip, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Kelly and Mary Cutlip, of Marana, Arizona and her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Alice Maitland, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Michael and Betty Maitland, of Forest Grove, Oregon. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Renee and Don Spears, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Stephanie and Steve Ruggiero, of Henderson, Nevada; Kelsie and Jason Freshour, of Vancouver, Washington; Willie and Kristian Cutlip, of Henderson, Nevada; Carrie Lambert, of Forest Grove, Oregon; DJ Kendall, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Vanessa Cutlip, of Maple Valley, Washington; Jenifer Cutlip, of Maple Valley, Washington; Amber and Nikolai Puchlov, of Seattle, Washington; Korey and Natasha Cutlip, of Maple Valley, Washington; her thirteen great-grandchildren, Kayley Spears; Jordan Spears; Jazzlyn Ruggiero; Devyn Hayes; Drew Wiggins, Breanne Freshour; Hero Cutlip; Ziven Smith; Aleksander Puchlov; Kael Cutlip; Mason Cutlip; Hadley Cutlip; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to Susan B. Komen Cancer Research Center, 1500 S.W. 1st Avenue, Suite 270, Portland, Oregon 97021, in her memory.
