Evelyn Elizabeth "Lynn" Twiner

<p>Evelyn Elizabeth “Lynn” Twiner, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy Springs, Georgia on October 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. </p><p>Lynn was born in 1934 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and received her nursing degree at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Windsor. In 1955, she moved to Montreal, Quebec and entered the world of travel as a flight attendant, in a time when the role was required to be performed by registered nurses. Lynn flew to many destinations but particularly enjoyed the province of Newfoundland, Canada. She moved to Atlanta in 1964 where she worked at Georgia Baptist and Northside Hospital, especially loving her time managing the Surgery Preparation department. </p><p>Lynn was a humble, witty, and dedicated woman. She was a proud and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, taking immense joy in loving and caring for her family. Whether she was preparing a delicious meal at the holidays, talking on the phone with friends and relatives, or entertaining on her patio, Lynn prioritized quality time with her loved ones. </p><p>She was a kind and thoughtful woman, dedicating her life to helping others. She brought others happiness, laughter, and healing through volunteer work with numerous organizations, including her beloved church of 58 years, St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church; the Sandy Springs Society (especially her work with the Tossed Out Treasures fundraiser); the Peachtree Road Race finish line, helping the medical team; serving on a medical mission in Africa; therapy dogs at Northside Hospital; and caring for countless patients in her nursing career. Her love, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be greatly missed. </p><p>Lynn loved the Lord and had an amazing faith that shined through in all she did. She served St. Jude in numerous roles, including counting the offertory each Monday, volunteering for the funeral ministry, assisting with the church’s associated elementary and middle schools, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Lynn was honored to be named St. Jude’s Catholic Woman of the Year in 2014. </p><p>Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Erminio “Ernie” and Irma Pierina (Leoni) Zucchetto, brother Jack “Reno” Zucchetto, and sister Ada Gallant. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Pickens and her husband Doug, son Michael Twiner and his wife Mary, son Brian Twiner and his wife Michelle; grandchildren John (Andrea), Patrick (Tom), Beth (Nick), Benjamin, Nicholas, Joseph, Quinn, Brooke, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren Neil and Reid. </p><p>A rosary will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass at 10:00AM. The family will receive guests at a reception to follow at the church prior to the interment at Arlington Memorial Park. </p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Peachtree Farm at 350 Research Ct., Suite 250, Peachtree Corners, Georgia 30092 or online at www.peachtreefarm.org. </p><p>“I just want everyone to love each other” – Lynn Twiner </p>
