Paul Witman Weidensaul Obituary

Paul Witman Weidensaul, 93, of Derry Township, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.


Born in Pottstown, on May 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Leon and Edna Zimmers Weidensaul.


Paul retired from the United States Air Force as the communications manager for the 193rd Special Operations Wing with the rank of chief master sergeant. He graduated from the former Shillington High School. Paul was dedicated to helping others. He was the founder, president, and president emeritus of the 193rd Special Operations Wing Association; an organization dedicated to helping military families. He received the Meritorious Service Award from the U.S. Air Force in 2010. He was also a 34-year member of the Hummelstown American Legion Post 265.


Paul was an active member of the Hershey Free Church where he served as Compassion Ministries Manager for 36 years. He was also a Past Elder Chairman and Sunday School Superintendent of the Hummelstown United Church of Christ. Paul was active in the Lions Club, serving as a past zone chairman and president of the Sand Hill Lions Club, which he helped organize, and a member of the Hershey Lions Club. He was the box office supervisor for Hershey Entertainment for 42 years.


Paul is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rose Marie Schneider Weidensaul, whom he married on May 14, 1955; four children, Vickie Gingrich (Curt) of Hummelstown, Tim Weidensaul (Lorre) of Hummelstown, Terry Weidensaul (Lisa) of New Bloomfield, and John Blevins (Marina) of Airville; six grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, Melissa, Chris, Dylan, and Ian; and one great-grandson, Reece.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 12:00pm noon in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 193 Special Operations Association, 81 Constellation Court #14, Middletown, PA 17057.
