Linda Amerling Scull Obituary

Linda Amerling Scull of Rowayton passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 3rd after fighting a long courageous battle against Liposarcoma cancer. She was 80 years old. Linda was born on March 9th, 1937 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Charles and Millicent Amerling. She attended Montclair High School and earned her B.A. degree in Sociology from Skidmore College in 1959. After marrying Pete Scull the following year, she began her career as a pre-school teacher and settled with her family in Darien. She then went on to have a successful twenty-two year career as a real estate broker and Partner of Scott Associates. Linda was active in community service throughout her life, giving her service to The Junior League, Childrens Aid Society, Person to Person, Stamford Hospital and the Farm Creek Preserve in Rowayton. Lindas close friends were drawn to her ever present smile, wonderful sense of humor and contagious laugh. Linda had a magnetic personality and enjoyed meeting people everywhere she went. She adored her friends of all ages. Lindas passion for reading made her the local authority among friends of all the "must reads." She loved lending books out and discovering new authors. In addition to reading she also enjoyed playing bridge and brought many laughs to the table. Lindas greatest joy and proudest achievement was her family. Her three daughters, all living locally, and seven grandsons brought no end of laughter and love to Linda over the years. Linda enjoyed ski trips to their vacation home in Sunapee, New Hampshire and beach days at Wee Burn Country Club. Linda avidly supported her grandchildren's many activities in sports and on the stage. Linda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Pete Scull, sister Penny Hull of Rose Valley, PA, daughters Lissa Short (David), Susie Aldrich (Ted) and Jinny Ferrarese (Paul), and beloved grandsons Andrew and Geoffrey Short, Jack, Ben, and Tommy Aldrich, and Peter and Will Ferrarese. A celebration of Lindas wonderful life will take place on May 24th at 2:00pm at the United Church of Rowayton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Bennett Cancer Center care of Stamford Hospital Foundation, 1351 Washington Blvd., Suite 202, Stamford, CT 06902.
