Dorothy Irene “Dotsie” Manges, 85, Hooversville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 28, 2023. Born December 25, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of Robert and Beulah (Moore) Denk. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 60 years Fred, sister Marge Trio, and daughter-in-law Sally Manges. Survived by children: Janet (Jeff) Yoder, Orie and Tim Manges, Tom (Beth Ryniak) Manges, and Claudia (Joe) Cominsky; grandchildren: Bethany (Donnie) Krek, Chris (Kristy) Yoder, Jeff (Desiree) Yoder, Hannah (Brad) Davis, Jason (Kelly) Manges, Kelly (Eric) Anderson, Erin (Bud) Howsare, Shaylyn (Seth) Kaufman, Alanna (Matt) Miller, Shawn Manges, Fred and Jake Manges, and Joseph (Tatum) Cominsky; great grandchildren: Grant and Isabelle Miller, Zachary, Connor, Kasey, Alisha, Colt and Sydney Yoder, Perry and Reid Manges, Maverick and Finley Anderson, Xander Howsare, Andrew and Caleb Kaufman, Melina and Blake Miller, and Gianna and Isabella Manges; siblings: Harriet Hofecker, Robert Denk, and Georgianna Alwine. Dotsie loved her family and friends. She was a 1956 graduate of Southmont High School. As a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville, she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching RCIA classes, and participating in many parish activities. Dotsie served her community in many ways. In 1973 she started the Hooversville Hayseeders 4-H club. She was the leader for many years and the club is still active today. She enjoyed helping with Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Shade-Central City School sports boosters, Hooversville Food pantry, and Hooversville Historical Society. Babies, children, raising singing canaries, her miniature horse Daisy, and being a farm wife (with her love Fred) brought her great joy. She will be missed by a large extended family and many friends. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville where a Vigil Service will be held in the afternoon. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Aron Maghsoudi Celebrant. Committal P.O.S. of A. Cemetery, Hooversville.
