Vera Margie Shaw Obituary

Vera was born Nov. 23, 1921 in Culdesac, ID to Hanes and Hilda Olney. She passed away peacefully on Aug. 17, 2016. Vera married James (Jim) Shaw on Aug. 31, 1940. Jim’s work with the saw mill moved the couple to Weippe, Pierce and Riggins, ID as well as Spokane, WA and Missoula, MT. In 1965, the couple returned to Spokane, WA where Jim purchased the Saw Clinic at 3014 N. Market Street. The sale of outdoor power equipment and filing of saws soon became a family business including Vera and their son, Greg. After retirement from the Saw Clinic, Vera enjoyed supporting her husband’s love for building steam engines. Vera and Jim were active members of the Inland Empire Steam Buff’s Club. Vera was also very artistic and creative, showing this through her love in scrapbooking, making beautiful flower arrangements, quilts and embroideries as well as decorations for the doll houses Jim built her. Vera is survived by her sons Jerry and Greg Shaw, grandchildren Steven Shaw and Kristine Nord, and great grandchildren Jaden and Luke as well as many special friends and other family members that were so important to her throughout her life. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister. A casual farewell celebration will be held at Pines Cemetery in the Annex Building on Friday, September 2nd at 10:00am
