John H. Geist, 93, previously of Lake Milton, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Washington Square Nursing Facility. He was born on May 12, 1930 in Clarion, Pennsylvania, the son of Willis E. and Sarah A. Cyphert Geist.

In September of 1969, he married Esther Keeley of Niles, Ohio and was blessed with 32 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2001.

John worked in maintenance and retired from Robinson Memorial Hospital. Prior to that, he worked at General Motors, Wean Manufacturing, and the Ravenna Arsenal.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; he was stationed in Japan as a radio mechanic under the Aircraft Control and Warning Group. He was a member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of many local Veterans.

John enjoyed many trips to Clarion and Canada for hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching his favorite ball teams, the Pittsburg Steelers and Cleveland Guardians.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; a stepson, Kenneth Keeley; granddaughter, Holly Keeley; two sisters, Mary Alice Shoup and Patricia Gillium; and a brother, Glen Geist.

Survivors include two sisters, Marjory Pittman of Lake Milton and Freda DeMarco of Warren; a granddaughter, Bliss Keeley of Niles; along with several nieces and nephews.
