Dorothy Jane Baker Smith, 94, a resident of Clinton, LA, and a native of Athens, LA, died in Covington, LA, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. There will be a visitation on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Feliciana Baptist Church in Clinton from 11:00 am until funeral services at 1:00 pm, conducted by Rev. Tony Hand. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. She is survived by two daughters: Biela Hayes and husband Cliff Hayes of Tioga, LA; Anne Satterlee and husband Stephen Satterlee of Covington, LA; one son, Wedon Smith and wife Jeffrie Smith of Clinton; six grandchildren: Kyle Hayes, Kristin Davis (Mark), Barrett Smith (Casey), Bennett Smith (Laurie), Stephen Temple Satterlee, and Jane Satterlee; six great-grandchildren: Eden Davis, Evie Davis, Addison Smith, Millie Smith, Hudson Smith, and Henry Baker Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald J. Smith; parents Ethel and Henry Baker; and infant brother Henry “Buddy” Baker. Pallbearers will be Stephen Satterlee, Barrett Smith, Mark Davis, Mack Herrod, Bennett Smith, Wedon Smith, Cliff Hayes, and Stephen Temple Satterlee. She was a 1950 graduate of LA Tech and worked through the LSU Extension office for a number of years. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, gardening, puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She was the best cook ever. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Feliciana Baptist Church.
