<p>LIBERTY TWP. -- Elizabeth "Tootie" Louise Despain, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in Liberty, after battling cancer. Elizabeth was born March 21, 1942, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frederick and Anna (nee Baltus) Andres. </p><p><br></p><p>She sold shoes for twenty years, fitting elderly in orthopedics. She found joy by collecting unicorns (her unicorn collection was featured in the Sharon Herald in the 80s) and garden gnomes. She loved NASCAR and was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. She had a passion for crafts and scrapbooking and made many greeting cards. She also bred hand-raised cockatiels and loved her kitties, having adopted many rescues over the years. Her later years were spent doting on her only granddaughter.</p><p><br></p><p>Elizabeth is survived by her son, John Hazen; stepsons, Glen Gearhart Jr. and Edward Hazen; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hazen; sister, Freddy (husband, Mike) Angel; sisters-in-law, Deborah Andres and Wendy Hazen; brother-in-law, Kevin Doherty; her beloved granddaughter, Freyja Hazen; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hazen; a stepson, James Hazen, and stepdaughter, Renee Hazen; her brother, Frederick "Bud" Andres; her sister, Janet Davis; her brothers-in-law, Bill Hazen, Dave Hazen, Bill Davis and Dean Rihel; and sisters-in-law, Cathy Rihel and Tina Dougherty.</p><p><br></p><p>Tootie was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>There will be no service.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family (donations can be made directly to ELDespain@gmail.com via paypal) to help cover expenses.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
