AB Stroup Obituary

AB Stroup, 80, a native of Vardaman, passed away at Bravera Health Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal Springs, Florida on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Born February 26, 1943, in Vardaman, MS, he was the son of the late Labe Stroup and the late Nora Jenkins Stroup. AB attended Vardaman High School, and he was of Baptist Faith. He served his country in the United States Army seeing combat in the war in Vietnam. After his military service, he began his life-long career as an over-the-road truck driver, most of which he was an owner/operator, and was known to his fellow truckers as “Charlie Brown”. For a period of time, he drove tour buses for legendary bands ranging from AC/DC to The Bangles. He enjoyed spending time on the water, where he was most at peace, boating and doing a little fishing. AB loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren Maegan and Timothy. He was a friendly and fun-loving person who will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.

Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve AB’s family.

A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:00 am at Poplar Springs Cemetery with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating.

He leaves behind his son, Anthony Stroup and his wife Mica of Vardaman; sister, Nila Rose Murphree of Vardaman, and grandchildren, Maegan Stroup of Vardaman and Timothy Lee Stroup of Benton, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Labe Stroup and Nora Jenkins Stroup; his son, Terry Lee Stroup, and nephew, Alan Murphree.
