Sheila MacPherson Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Sheila MacPherson (nee Cantlon) at the age of 87 on August 2, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving children over her final days and passed peacefully.

Born in Arthur, Ontario, Sheila was the beloved wife of her late husband Bob for 62 years, loving mother to late Robin (Richard), late Rick (Connie), Tami (Cliff), Tom (Denise), Jamie (Amy) and Jason (Amanda). She was the proud grandmother of Mike, Billy, Taylor, Tyler, Evan, Hana, Abby and Ethan. She was the loving great grandmother of Tyson, Sophie and Adelaide. She was predeceased by her brothers Terry, Barry and Brian.

Mom had an immense passion for people, stemming from her nursing career right through to being caregiver for Dad later in life. Her sense of humour was wonderful and memorable. She carried this on to her friendships and was known as a bit of a social butterfly. Her positive personality always brought smiles to faces of those she met, even through her final weeks with fellow residents and staff commenting on her spunkiness and humour. Friends would describe her as one of a kind.

Mom had a generosity that cannot be measured. Her children knew she would sacrifice anything and everything for them. She was loved by so many and impacted so many lives through her 87 years. She devoted time to her church, enjoyed holidays with family and gatherings with friends during her time in Nova Scotia and Ontario. She had a knack for crafting, often knitting, crocheting and making hand made holiday gifts for family and friends. She loved baking and was famous for her molasses cookies and homemade buns at Christmas. In more recent years she’d enjoy “finding bargains” at Giant Tiger and the dollar store, often requiring some serious coaxing to get her to leave.

Mom was a gracious woman with the warmest of hearts. A friend to so many and an inspiration to those who knew her, she had a huge commitment to her faith which lead her in life. She will be greatly missed. We find comfort in knowing that she is with our dad, Robin and Rick having a glorious reunion in heaven.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 7pm to 9pm at Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division St, Bowmanville, ON. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 11am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3800 Courtice Rd N, Courtice, ON.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and/or Diabetes Canada
