Beautiful Judy passed away on July 28, 2023.

She leaves behind, her children, Tom, Kate, John (Tessie) and Jim (Elaine) and her grandchildren

Jennifer (Paul), Rachel, Christine (Bobby), John Jr., Carlo (Alicia) and Nick (Sarah) as well as many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Judy lived a very full and rich life and loved to laugh.

As a young woman, straight out of Bulkeley high school, she was hired and trained by Pratt & Whitney to become a technical illustrator.

She started her career at Pratt and then worked for many other businesses, including Monsanto and then ended her career as an illustrator, also with Pratt and Whitney.

From there Judy traveled to the west coast to be closer to her eldest son and his children and became a nanny for three different households in the San Francisco area.

Judy always loved to be around children.

Later in life Judy went back to school at Manchester Community College excelling both in writing and art classes, often being asked by one of her professors to teach his class when he was unavailable.

She retired briefly, in her seventies, but retirement did not seem to bode well with her, so she took a job in the graphics department of a liturgical publication.

When she finally did retire, in her early eighties, she taught a young woman in her twenties the computer software needed to take over the position.

Besides her kids and grandchildren the things that brought Judy much joy were cooking, watching cooking shows, reading the newspaper, every single day and especially reading food and decorating magazines and she adored the movies and any kind of music. Oh! And how she Loved to drive…anywhere! Loved cars and where they could constantly take her.

When Judy was a young teen, a gentleman heard her sing and thought she had great potential; he got her a job at Sage Allen, a Hartford department store institution where she also excelled, so that she could afford to take voice lessons with his wife.

From studying voice Judy was accepted to Julliard in NYC. At that time she was also accepted to The Barbizon School of modeling.

In the 60”s Judy sang with her nephews’ band at weddings and special events, specializing in Bossa Nova music.

Judy could “belt out” songs like Barbara Streisand, she was especially fond of the song “People Who need People” and was often heard around the home, singing along with many of the different artists records that she collected over the years.

She had a voice similar to Ella Fitzgerald; like Ella, Judy’s voice was smooth, like velvet.

She met her husband Fran, when she was young, at a dance, the way so many people in post WWII met one another. They were quite smitten with one another, married early on, built a house out in the country and had four children together.

There really wasn’t anything Judy couldn’t do once she put her mind to it,

quite often coming up with creative ideas of how to do something better.

She was one of the most independent people you could ever meet, comfortable in her own skin and with spending time alone.

Growing up first generation Italian in Hartford Connecticut with older siblings that she adored as well as her parents she had a very strong and loving upbringing that gave rise to a very strong, happy and diverse life.

Judy was predeceased by her later-in-life good friend and companion Dominic.

She will be missed, very much, by all whose lives she touched.

The family would like to Thank the many workers at Manchester Manor that took such wonderful care of Judy, including Abby, Marissa, Trudy, Kudi, “Peache”, Cheryl, Felica and Erin as well as Ro, Gilllian, and Lucy, the Recreation department and all of the administrative staff. A special thank you to Paige, who helped to make certain, that Judy’s last few days went the way they were supposed to.

And Thank You to All of the kitchen staff, Judy just loved the food at the manor.
