Sylvia W. Lowry

<p>LINCOLN - Sylvia W. Lowry, 89, went to be with her Lord on June 26, 2023, in Lincoln. She was born on June 10, 1934, in Lincoln, the daughter of Newell E. and Thelma (Sawyer) Ware. A 1951 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy, Sylvia attended Ricker College in Houlton, where she met her future husband, Keith S. Lowry. They were married on June 28, 1953.</p><p>For many years, Sylvia worked as a substitute teacher in the East Millinocket School System. She was a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church UCC of East Millinocket, where she sang in the choir and was part of the church’s music ministry, which included performing piano/organ duets with her husband Keith. In recent years, she had also become a regular part of the online congregation of East Congregational UCC in Concord, New Hampshire, where her son Michael serves as pastor.</p><p>Sylvia enjoyed reading, sewing, spending summers at the camp on Pleasant Pond and sailing, being on the computer and keeping up with family and friends on social media, but spending time with her family was what she enjoyed the most.</p><p>She is survived by her son Rev. Michael and his wife Lisa Lowry of Concord, N.H., three grandchildren, Jacob Lowry of Auburn, Sarah Flewelling and her husband Scot of Northfield, New Hampshire, and Zachary Lowry of Oaxaca, Mexico; and one great-granddaughter, Sylvie Bea Flewelling of Northfield, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Keith in 2007, and her brother Newell in 2010.</p><p>The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Health Care in Lincoln, as well as Penobscot Valley Hospital for their care and compassion.</p><p>A graveside service will be held on July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Millinocket Cemetery with her son, the Rev. Michael Lowry, officiating.
