<p>Dennis Paul Richel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community, passed away on July 1st, 2023, at the age of 72. Dennis was born June 24th, 1951, to Elmer and Esther Richel in the picturesque town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.</p><p><br></p><p>On July 15th, 1972, Dennis married the love of his life, Deborah Kim Harris at the Glenwood Springs Methodist Church. Their union was blessed with two beautiful children, Heidi and Keith. As a dedicated family man, Dennis cherished every moment spent with his family. </p><p><br></p><p>Professionally, Dennis was a master plumber and the proud owner of Best Plumbing and Heating. With his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to quality, he built a reputation for excellence in his field. After a successful career, Dennis retired in 2021. </p><p><br></p><p>Beyond his work, Dennis had a passion for the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping were some of his favorite activities, where he found solace in nature and created memories with family and friends. Dennis treasured time spent with his grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and cherishing every moment they shared together.</p><p><br></p><p>One of Dennis's most endearing qualities was his remarkable sense of humor. His infectious laughter and quick wit brought joy and fun to any gathering. He was known for his lighthearted pranks and his ability to make others smile, even in the face of adversity. Dennis would go above and beyond to help anyone in need, whether they asked for assistance, or not.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was preceded in death by his loving grandparents and his beloved parents.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-one years, Debby Richel; his loving daughter, Heidi (Eloy) Nunez of Rifle; and his devoted son, Keith (Leanne) Richel of Silt. Dennis also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren; Kayla, Ismael, Elena, and Daisy Nunez; Jared, Justin, Jesse, and Jocelynn Richel who will forever hold his spirit close; Kenneth (Su) Richel of Grand Junction and Alan Richel of Silt.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis touched the lives of many and will be profoundly missed. His kindness, humor, and selflessness will forever inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember him with smiles, laughter, and the love he shared with everyone around him.</p><p><br></p><p>A potluck memorial service will be held at 11 am on August 5th, 2023 at Elk Wallow Campground above Reudi Reservoir in Basalt, where friends and family will gather to celebrate </p><p><br></p><p>Dennis's life and honor his memory; the meat will be provided, please bring a side or dessert to share and a chair. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Dennis's name to Abode Hospice (744 Horizon Ct. #110. Grand Junction, CO 81506) or the Valley View Lung Center (1905 Blake Avenue, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601), as both these organizations provided exceptional comfort and care for Dennis.</p><p><br></p><p>"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day.
