Edward H McCloskey

<p> Edward H. McCloskey, Sr, 92, of Milesburg, was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Embassy of Hearthside in State College. Born on March 19, 1931, in Snow Shoe, he was the son of the late Lester and Olive (McCracken) McCloskey. On September 16, 2000, in Zion, he married Genevieve N. “Genny” Walker, who survives at home.</p><p><br></p><p> Edward attended the Pine Glen Area School. He worked for J. H. France Refractory for 47 years, retiring in November of 1997.</p><p><br></p><p> Edward was of the protestant faith. He loved to spend time fishing at Stevenson’s Dam in the Sinnemahoning State Park. He enjoyed camping in his RV with Genny and his family and friends at Sinnemahoning and along the river in Jersey Shore. He liked to watch TV, especially sports and western shows. He was a kind and loving man. He was strong, and although he suffered a lot of loss throughout his lifetime, he did not allow that to taint his love for his family and others around him. He was a remarkable man, loving husband and father, and always tried to keep up a “happy go lucky” outlook on life. He will be forever cherished in the memories of those lucky enough to call him family or friend. </p><p><br></p><p> Along with his wife, Edward is survived by two sons, Edward H. McCloskey, Jr. and his wife, Nicole, of Moshannon and David A. McCloskey of Milesburg; four daughters, Cindy Struble of Milesburg, Patricia Notestine and her husband, Jeff, of Bedford, DeLinda Moore of Bedford, and Connie Casher and her husband, Fred, of Keewaydin; ten grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p> Along with his parents, Edward was preceded by his first wife, Shirley (Bumbarger) McCloskey; his second wife, Verna (Shutkia) McCloskey; his infant grandson, Joshua David McCloskey; his son in-law, Bob Struble; and two siblings, George McCloskey and Peggy A. Hunter.</p><p><br></p><p> A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 10am – 11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Snow Shoe. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11am with Jeff Hoover officiating.</p><p><br></p><p> Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W.
