Martin Griffin

<p>Martin (Marty) Griffin, 66, of Glastonbury, CT, passed away on June 9, 2023. Marty was born on March 11, 1957 to Martin and Mary (Frances) Griffin in Riverdale, NY, or occasionally “The Bronx” when he wanted to make an impression. He graduated from Mount Saint Michael High School in 1975. Marty received a Bachelor of Science from Quinnipiac University, Hampden, CT in 1979, and went on to build a successful career in Information Technology. </p><p>Marty was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Melissa Griffin, two sons Aidan and Russel Griffin, two step-sons and wives, Christopher and Victoria Ensor, Kyle and Cortney Ensor, grand-daughter Sinead Ensor, sister Grainne Carleton, nephew and wife Ian and Cathryn Carleton, and grandniece Marigold Carleton.</p><p>Marty was quiet and understated with a broad outlook and idea about what’s important. He lived a life that was full of fun, adventure, deep friendships and love. Famous for that mischievous glint in his eyes, you could always count on Marty to stir up any situation. </p><p>Marty was a brewer, a vintner and a musician. He skated on the first Quinnipiac hockey team, and joked that all of their recent successes were on his shoulders. Marty completed a hike of the Appalachian Trail in 1980. </p><p>One of a tight band of friends and outdoor warriors, Marty continued to hike and ski throughout his adult life sharing his interests with his children as they grew. Marty was a Boy Scout leader for many years organizing hiking trips to the White Mountains in New Hampshire as well as rafting and canoeing adventures for the troop. Life became much harder in the last five years of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, and despite his limitations he was always game for an adventure. </p><p>Marty, Martin, Marty “O”, Shammy, Pop-Pop, friend, husband, lover, dad, uncle, brother, cousin, son, what a full and lovely life you had. How lucky we all are to have known and loved you.</p><p>Friends may call on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00noon at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. </p>
