<p>Shirley McLain, 91, died peacefully on May 17, 2023 at Woodlands Memory Care in Brewer Maine. She was born on January 24, 1932 in Medway. </p><p><br></p><p>Shirley always loved and cared for her family and was a devoted Christian who was also a member of the Fairfield Nazarene church. She sang in the choir, sang duets, held missionary meetings, VBS helper and fellowship luncheons. She also started a Widow’s Group at the church called “Open Hearts.” Shirley witnessed to many about her faith and always gave encouragement to others.</p><p><br></p><p>Shirley was the Valedictorian of her graduating high school class and had a successful career in managing the domestic department of Freeze’s department store and eventually transitioned into management of the housekeeping department at Eastern Maine Medical Center for many years.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Roig (Herman) and Vicki Johnston (Bruce) of Florida; a son, Brian Craig (Jill) of Brewer; her brother, Wayne Vance (Bonnie) of Lincoln and her beloved stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Clarence McLain of Benton; her sister, Marilyn Vance Willette; her two brothers, Warren Vance and Charlie Vance; and one son, Michael Craig.</p><p><br></p><p>The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation for all who cared for her at Woodlands and Gentiva Hospice. Their attention, compassion, and kindness is very appreciated. We would also like to thank Brookings -Smith for their gracious assistance. There will be no services at this time.</p>
