<p>Katherine Ann Nygaard, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital, of renal failure, at the age of 64.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine was born on May 10, 1959, to Patricia Ann Sparling and William E. Bivins, at Pasco.</p><p><br></p><p>Being the child of a military family, Katherine was afforded the opportunity to live in many places, which until the age of 10, included Florida, Hermiston, Ore., and Clarkston. As an adult, she lived in the Lewiston Orchards, Casper, Wyo., Pasco, and from 1992 to her passing, in Clarkston.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine attended school and graduated from Clarkston High School in 1977. She attended Walla Walla Community College graduating in 1980 with an RN degree.</p><p><br></p><p>She married Albert Dale Cool in 1981 and they divorced in 1984. She married David Lynn Nygaard on May 10, 1998, in Coeur d’Alene. She had one daughter, Lindsey.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine was employed as an RN working at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Banner Wyoming Medical Center Emergency Room, Casper, Wyo.; Lourdes Health ER, Pasco, and various other nursing and ER positions across the country, retiring in July 2006. Katherine loved caring for others.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine was involved in local rodeo and omoksee and spent lots of time on horseback. She was the queen of the Lewis-Clark Saddle Club in 1976.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine was preceded in death by her father, William Bivins, her mother, Patricia Ann Bivins, and brother William Ray Bivins. She is survived by her husband David L. Nygaard of Clarkston; daughter Lindsey J. Babino, Henryetta, Okla.; stepdaughter Shanda Johnson, Bothell, Wash.; stepson Bryan Nygaard, Lewiston; sister Sue Bain, Lewiston; grandsons: Gabriel Notz, Hurlburt AFB, Fla.; Avery Notz, Henryetta; Trevor Notz, Henryetta; Cameron Notz, Henryetta; Miles Babino, Henryetta; Henry Johnson, Bothell; Crew Nygaard, Lewiston; Briggs Nygaard, Lewiston; granddaughters: Ella Babino, Henryetta; Norah Babino, Henryetta, and Penny Johnson, Bothell.</p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at the Wooden Nickel, 931 Bryden Ave., Lewiston.</p><p><br></p><p>Katherine will be remembered forever riding off into the sunset on her favorite horse, Daisy, with a George Strait soundtrack providing the rhythms.</p>
