<p>Richard J Cormier 85, a beloved husband, father, brother, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather passed away on Saturday May 27th 2023 at the Hyder House in Dover, NH following a long illness.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard was born on September 13 1937 in Portsmouth NH, son of Joseph W and Violet (Manson) Cormier.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard was raised in Kittery Maine and attended Traip Academy. Later, he moved to Sanford, Maine, where he pursued a job at the mills. It was during that time when he reconnected with an old friend from High School, Margaret L. Waldron from Kittery Point. They married in March 1964 and began their journey together as life partners.</p><p><br></p><p>They lived in Sanford while raising their five children, Ernest, Teresa, Steven, Joseph and Cheryl. Eventually, moving to Springvale and purchasing their forever home. Richard made a career of 34 years working as a production mechanic then later a machinist with Sprague Electric Co. retiring in 2001.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard, better known to most as Dick, was known for being friendly, easy going, having a good sense of humor and his competitive nature. He participated in many coworker sporting events. Richard had a great love of the outdoors, spending many vacations hunting and snowmobiling in northern Maine with family and friends. His greatest love though was fishing; he mastered the ability to bring fish to net at an early age. He spent every season he could trolling on Winnipesaukee, Sebago, Rangeley and many others. When he wasn’t on the water fishing he could be seen in his yard washing and waxing his truck. He enjoyed watching his Grandsons play basketball and family gatherings.</p><p><br></p><p>The many memories shared with his family and friends will never cease to bring comfort and joy. He has been reunited with his Father, Mother and Brother. We take comfort in knowing that you are finally at peace. We love you and will always cherish our times together and know you will forever be a part of our lives.</p><p><br></p><p>Family survivors include his wife of 59 years Margaret Cormier, his five children, Ernest Gonce and wife Susan, Teresa Junkins, Steven Gonce, Joseph Cormier and wife Marina, Cheryl Patstone and husband Jim, a sister Judith French and husband Lee, a brother Thomas Cormier, 15 Grandchildren and 24 Great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard was predeceased by his Brother Robert Cormier, Father Joseph W Cormier, and Mother Violet Cormier, and son-in-law Ron Junkins.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
