<p>Ms. Thelma Marie Daniels was born November 8, 1946 to Freddie and Lessie Lee Isreal in Jacksonville, Florida. She departed this life September 29, 2012 at Memorial Hospital.</p><p><br></p><p>Thelma graduated from Stanton High School in 1964. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida A&amp;M University in 1968. She dedicated her life to teaching and educating students in the Duval County Public School system. She spent most of her 30-year career at Southside Estates Elementary (teaching primarily third grade) before retiring in 1999. In her spare time, she continued teaching – by tutoring and mentoring youth at True Holiness Deliverance Tabernacle, her beloved church. A proud and ambitious woman, Thelma organized and founded Camp TOP, a summer camp and enrichment program that has served hundreds of youth throughout Jacksonville. </p><p><br></p><p>For nearly 30 years, Thelma was an active and dedicated member of True Holiness Deliverance Tabernacle where she served as outreach leader. Her passion was reading the Bible and attending church services in Jacksonville and Sanford, Florida. She was a loving and caring person who often ministered to and fed the homeless. In recognition of her compassion and dedication for helping people in need, Guiding Light Ministries, Inc. named a food pantry, Helping Hands Depot, in Thelma’s honor. She was a very generous person and known by many for giving – sometimes even her last. People looked up to Thelma for her good deeds and willingness to provide hope and encouragement during life’s difficult moments. She was a beacon of hope for many. She was a friend, mother and missionary to many. Her love touched the hearts of all. </p><p><br></p><p>Thelma leaves three (3) loving children to celebrate her life, Bryan Daniels (Angela), James Daniels (Ekiuwa) and Gerald Daniels; nine (9) grandchildren, Aaron Daniels, Cortez Daniels, Donovan Daniels, Danielle Daniels, Asia Daniels, Aliyah Daniels, Colin Daniels, Caylee Daniels and Gerald Daniels Jr.; one brother, Freddie Isreal; extended family, Ruth B. Davis, Ellen E. Davis, Alma Butler, Patricia Gibbs, Jennifer Gibbs-Phillips, Leroy Gibbs, Eddie Jones Jr., Valerie Ducksworth, Aisha Ducksworth, India Ducksworth, Akeem Ducksworth, Von Easton (James), Kevin Fowler (Angie), Vanita Foster, Kecia Forcine and Archie Con Grover; and a host of cousins, other relatives, best friend Delores Robinson and other caring friends.</p><p>The funeral service for Thelma Daniels will be held 11AM, Saturday at the True Holiness Deliverance Tabernacle 221 E. 27th Street. The Visitation and Celebration Service will be 6 - 8PM, Friday at the church. Interment in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com.
