Alice Marie Bebow Bethka, 90, passed away May 21, 2023. Her memorial service will be Friday, June 2 at 3pm at Central Lutheran Church, Anchorage, AK.

Alice was born January 29, 1933, In St. Louis, Michigan to Martin Bebow and Iva Longanbach Bebow. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and faithfully served Him until the end. She graduated from Cleary College Business School in Ypsilanti, then she worked for Michigan State University as a secretary. She married Richard D. Bethka on June 18, 1955, in Lansing, MI, and they had 4 children: Jon, Steven, Teresa, and Tracy. They moved from Michigan to Washington, Alabama, and Colorado and finally to Anchorage, AK in 1971. They hosted a foreign exchange student, Isabelle Evern, who became a daughter to them.

Alice was an active member of Central Lutheran Church and loved volunteering. She worked for the Anchorage School District, sold real estate and also worked for HUD as a Data Research Assistant. After Richard's passing in 2016, she sold her home and moved into Chester Park Senior Housing.

Alice (Nana) loved to sew, bead, and learn new crafts, and most of all, she loved to "grow" plants. She spent many happy hours in her garden. She had a generous spirit and pleasant personality, and was loved by many. We will miss her smile and laughter, she lived a long and beautiful life, and we know she is in a far better place.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Caroline Carter, brother James Bebow, and 2 infant sisters.

Alice is survived by her siblings, Ted Bebow and KAthy Butler, 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Central Lutheran Church or Providence Anchorage Hospice.
