<p>Larry Roger Carlson, 81, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away early on Monday, May 29, 2023, at his home. </p><p>Larry was born on February 22, 1942, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Emil Axel Carlson and Lillian Smith Carlson. He attended Emerson, Central, and O.E. Bell schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School with the grand Class of 1961. In high school he played football, basketball and baseball. </p><p>In August of 1959, he met Connie Maxfield on a blind date. They were married on August 25, 1961, in Ucon, Idaho. They moved to Moscow, Idaho, in the fall of 1961, where Larry attended the University of Idaho on a football scholarship. He said he would of stayed longer than one year, but they made him attend class. In June of 1962, he went to work for Harold Dale and Son as a plasterer. </p><p>Their two daughters, Cammie born in 1963, and Cindy in 1964. In 1970, Larry started his own company, Carlson Plastering. For the next 30 years he worked on multiple projects in South Eastern Idaho. He took great pride in his work. In 1981, he opened the Cliff House Restaurant. In January 1994, he began serving on the Idaho Falls City Council that lasted 8 years. He loved working with the city employees and division managers. It was a chance of a lifetime, in a lifetime of chance. He loved to hunt, fish, do woodworking, artist, and stained glass. Even though Larry never served in the military he loved this country and was very patriotic. He was a lifelong Utah Jazz fan. </p><p>Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanne Higgins; and brother, Dick Carlson. </p><p>Larry is survived by his wife, Connie; daughters, Cammie (Brian) Searle, and Cindy (Jim) Carson, both of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Don Carlson of Sandy, UT; 7 grandchildren, Jodi (Wade) Steinlage, Janna (Tony) Eveland, Britnee (Keegan) Hunter, Benjamin (Linzy) Searle, Jade Carson, Bethany (Michael) Casteel, and Jerie (Chris) Despain; and 15 great-grandchildren. </p><p>Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet in Idaho Falls. If you would like to bring a chair, please do. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. </p>
