NEW BEDFORD-Malia Cindy Nuñez, 4, of New Bedford became an angel in heaven on Friday, May 26, 2023 following her passing at Children's Hospital in Boston where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of Wendy Victoria (Escobar) Nuñez, Alfredo Nuñez and Johnathan Aguiar.

Born in Boston, Malia was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition. Despite her illness and its challenges, she was a beautiful, happy little girl who enjoyed dressing up in princess costumes, singing, dancing and listening to music. Malia was a ray of sunshine and brought immense joy to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her parents; 2 brothers, Xavier Jimenez and Azaryah Algarin, both of New Bedford; maternal grandparents, Maria Marcial of Colombia and Hector Marcial of Puerto Rico; paternal grandparents, the late Alfredo Nuñez of Puerto Rico and the late Cindy Ann Sylvia of New Bedford, Elizabeth De Almeida and Seth Aguiar, both of New Bedford; paternal great-grandparents, Isabel Davilia of Puerto Rico, Manuel Aguiar and the late Cindy Aguiar of New Bedford and Hilda and Manny Azavedo of Portugal; aunts and uncles, Cristian Escobar, Vanessa Quinones, Jayden Ortiz, Yarimar Marcial, Juan Rosa, Chelsea De Almeida, Devin Arenas, Julian Aguiar, Brenda Lee Galarza, Brendie Aranda, Jackeline Quinones, Antonio Galarza and Stephen Aranda; 10 cousins, Cristian Escobar, Serenity Escobar, Yariel Rosa, Levian Rosa, Tristan Thompson, David Thompson, Jr., Isaac Galarza, Jordan Galarza, Anuel Ortiz and Analis Ortiz.

Her service  will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation prior to the service from 8:30-10:00 A.M. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
