<p>Greenville - Cortney Deeaunna Wright Evans was born to Joe and Denise Wright on September 14, 1989, in Greenville, North Carolina. God called Cortney home on Monday, May 29, 2023.</p><p><br></p><p>The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 1pm at Philippi Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7pm at Smith Funeral Service.</p><p><br></p><p>Cortney was educated in the Pitt County Schools where she graduated from J H Rose High School and was on the track team. She attended UNC Wilmington where she continued to participate in track and field events. She graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a degree in Social Work. She had been employed with Therapeutic Foster Care Consultants as well as Beaufort County DSS. Cortney went back to school and earned a degree in Health Information Technology from Pitt Community College in 2022 as well as being inducted in the Honor Society. Following graduation, she was employed with Physicians East in the insurance department.</p><p><br></p><p>She met her husband Christopher Evans in the summer of 2013 and they wed in 2016. Cortney was a beautiful loving person, always full of smiles! She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be truly missed.</p><p><br></p><p>Preceding Cortney on her journey are grandparents, Mary H. Wright, Willie Wright, and Henry Jamison; and uncles, Willie J.
