Peter Carl Gay was born on April 30, 1951 at home in Kyle, SD to Alexander Gay and Sophie (Red Wolf) Gay. Peter made his journey to the Spirit World on May 29, 2023 at his home in Kyle, SD.

Peter is survived by his wife, Leora Cindy Mercado; children, Kristy (Reggie) Martinez, Kari (Chris) Burks, Katrina (Dean) LaPointe, Laticia (Darrel Jr.) Brushbreaker, Sunshine (Michael) Gay, William (Martina) Gay, Peter Gay, Jr., Ota Gay, Paul Gay, Robert (Ash) Gay, Charles (Shanda) Gay, Larry Gay, and Aaron Gay; honorary daughter, Victoria Iron Horn; siblings, Aaron (Sandra) Gay, Gayla (Richard) Gay, and Alex Gay, Jr.; brother-in-law, Mario Sr.; grandchildren, Emilio, Jacob, Kianna, Dante, Pasha, Xavier, Lailah, Lawrence, Laiden, Ulani, William, Jr., Kenneth, Isabella, Lilliana, Corbin, Claudiana, Chris, Baby Charles, Charlotte, Moonlight, Starlight, Stefon, Dominic, Ariana, Nace, Alan, Jr., Nathaniel, Jesse, Michael Tenorio, AJ, Jordan, Jacinta, Jose, Alex, Hayden, Julio, Kanalah, Josie, Joshua, Kristina, Alejandra, and numerous grandchildren; nieces & nephews, Vienna, Mikayla, Ezra, Mario, Jr., Angel, Alex, and numerous nieces & nephews.
