Mary Beth Jones, 64, a lifelong resident of Athens, passed away on May 30, 2023, in Athens. She was born on October 30, 1958, in Athens, Texas, the daughter of David Thomas Jones and Laura Elizabeth (Bostick) Jones. Mary Beth graduated from Athens High School in 1977, worked for the hospital in Athens, and then worked for Kidd Jones Oil Company, managing two stores in the Athens area during the 70s and 80s. She then worked for Dr. Tobes' office in Athens for 15 years doing clerical work.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her brothers, Shellie Jones and wife Patti of Athens and John L. Jones and wife Lisa of Athens; her nieces whom she loved dearly, Angela Hester and husband Chris, Kimberly Jackson and husband Rebel, Adele Jones, Abbi Stephens and husband Nick Hemmings, Hannah Jones, Ashley Kurtz and husband Jason, Alyssa Diamond and husband Jeremiah, Adrianna Hinds and husband Dashiel; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of UT Health-Athens, Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Athens, and Harbor Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
