Ralph David Pugh Obituary

Ralph David Pugh, born November 20, 1936, in Yorkville, Ohio, went home to his heavenly Father on Monday, May 29, 2023. Ralph is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Helen Pugh. He leaves behind three daughters Chris (Lanse) Leach, Kathy Pugh, and Julie (Mark) Miedema to carry on his legacy. That legacy continues through grandchildren Amanda (Erik) Wallenberg, Mallory (Norm) Menegay, John (Camila) Hiner, Cory (Krysten) Guidone, Samantha (Carson) Miedema-Brinks, and Kennedy (Noah) Miedema-Westra. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved and three great grandchildren. Ralph was was the son of David & Gladys Pugh. He was brother to Kathryn (John) Shearer, Virginia (Dick) Blum, Edward (Berdine) Pugh, Dolores (Robert) Zimmerly, Dean (Bobbi) Pugh, and Kenneth (Tommi) Pugh.

Ralph was a man of deep and unwavering faith in his Lord and was very intentional about his daily devotions. We believe he was greeted with the words “well done good and faithful servant”. He served in the United States Army from 1960 - 1965 and was stationed for a short period of time at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Ralph possessed an undeniably strong work ethic. He worked for 33 years for the Hoover Company (Whirlpool) in North Canton, Ohio, while also driving school bus, selling real estate, selling / installing water softeners, wholesaling Krylon paints, and cutting cores for J&L Steel in Louisville and Pennsylvania… just to name a few. After retiring from the Hoover Company, he also worked for Paquelet Furniture Company, Enviroscapes, and other part time jobs. Ralph enjoyed raising vegetables in gardens both large and small, raising animals, woodworking, and camping with his wife and daughters when they were young. His favorite past time was watching sports shows of all types on his big screen TV. He also could never pass up a Chick-Fil-A sandwich.

A public graveside service will be held 11am Friday morning June 23, 2023 in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of his strong belief in the power of obtaining a good education to the scholarship program at the Julliard Arts Center. These may be sent to the attention of his daughter, Kathy Pugh, at Julliard Arts Center, 610 Market Ave. N., Canton, Ohio 44702.
