James L. Odegard

<p>James L. Odegard, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. </p><p>Service will be at 2pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids.&nbsp; Rev. Jack Austin will officiate.&nbsp; </p><p>James was born May 9, 1950 in Luana, Iowa to Lawrence and Ethel (Cowel) Odegard. </p><p>He graduated from Westby High School in 1969 and went on to welding school. He enjoyed a long career as a welder, retiring from Toro, Inc. </p><p>James was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. He also took pride in refurbishing items people didn’t need and giving them to anyone who did. </p><p>James is survived by his son, Daniel (Rosario) Odegard of Middleton, WI and their son, Grant; daughter, Lyssa (Edward) Blakeslee and their children, Cami and Terry Blakeslee; and several siblings.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents; longtime companion, JoAnn Keeney; and brother, Myron Odegard. </p><p>A special thanks to Calvary Baptist and their members for welcoming James (Odie) with open arms and hearts. </p><p>Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family. </p>
