Skye De'Wayne Welch Obituary

Skye D. Welch, 49, went to his heavenly home on the 29th day of May, peacefully surrounded by his family. He suffered a long term illness from liver, heart, and kidney failure.


He is survived by his daughter, Madelyn Skylar Welch, and son, Presley Taylor Welch, Brandon, MS. Also survived by his brothers, Shawn Ryan Yates (Tammy), Waco, Texas; Justin Kyle Yates (Sarah), Houston, Texas; Thomas Welch, Jr., Boulder, CO; Darin Wallace (Mindy), Lafayette, LA; and his sisters, Crystal Dianne Welch Rushing; Hattiesburg, MS, and Dana Wallace Bekurs (Gray), Hoover, AL.


He is also survived by his mother, Sarah Welch Yates-Wallace; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Anderson Gressett; his step-mother, Barbara Welch; and step fathers, Gerald Yates and David Wallace; his uncles, Terry Wayne Anderson (Jennifer), Philadelphia, MS; Vic Bustin, Petal, MS; his cousins, Amber Anderson O'Hanion and Daniel O'Hanion, Hoover, AL, and Kelsey Schronce, Huntsville, AL; and his brother in law, Billy Hawn, Meridian, MS.


His surviving nieces are Avery and Kennedy Yates, Waco, Texas; Kylie and Kynlie Yates, Houston, Texas; Jennifer Hawn Marascalco (Frank), Oxford, MS; Jessica Hawn, New Orleans, La; Jacque Hawn Hamilton, Oxford, MS; Sadie Bekurs, Hoover AL; and Ryleigh Wallace, Lafayette, LA.


His surviving nephews are Ruston and Easton Yates, Waco, TX; Zachary Anderson, Hattiesburg, MS; Gavin Bekurs, Hoover, AL; and Reece Wallace, Lafayette, LA; Jonathan Hawn, Meridian, MS; and great nephew, Bennett Hawn, Meridian, MS.


He is predeceased by his father, Thomas Albert Welch, Sr; his sister, Vicki Welch Hawn; his brother, Michael Warren Patsel; his grandparents, Marvin and Anita Anderson; his aunt, Donna Anderson Bustin; his grandparents, William Earnest and Edith Welch.


Skye graduated from Brandon High School, and Meridian Jr College. He had a love for football, especially Mississippi State and the Saints. He was an avid guitar player and song writer. He played and sang in several bands. He was a skilled carpenter, cabinet maker and tile installer. He loved listening to music, playing guitar, shooting bow and arrow, hunting and fishing. But he especially loved his children, Maddie and Presley and spending time with them.


Visitation will be at Sebrell Funeral Home, Ridgeland, MS, Thursday, June 1st, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. The funeral will be held Friday, June 2nd, noon, at Liberty Baptist Church, 4555 Hwy 395, Noxapater, MS 39346, with visitation from 10:00am until noon. Interment will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral service.
