Scott William DeMone Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Scott on Friday, May 26, 2023.

Born June 22, 1988, in Sydney, Scott leaves behind his parents, Warren and Gloria (Hardy) DeMone of Mira Road.

Scott also leaves behind his sister, Warna; brother, Keith; sister-in-law, Mei; nieces, Mira and Sylvia; and his dog nephew, Nova. Scott also leaves behind a very large extended family and many friends.

This past winter Scott was predeceased by his best friend and loyal companion, Storm. Scott and Storm had many adventures together from Alberta to Sydney during Scott’s career exploration. We take some peace in knowing Storm greeted him at the gates.

Scott was also predeceased by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.

Scott was most recently employed at Dexter’s Construction as a shuttle buggy operator. Scott’s biggest achievement at Dexter’s was being part of the “Asphalt Assault Caribbean Crew” who spent a year completing the paving of the Barbados airport.

Scott was one of the fastest ice skaters around. He started his hockey career with Sydney Minor Hockey and achieved his dream of playing high school hockey for his three years with the Sydney Academy Wildcats until his graduation in 2006. We all took much joy in watching his games and seeing him whip around the ice.

Scott attended auto-mechanics at NSCC but his true love was motorcycles. Scott enjoyed camp fires, quality time with his many friends, tattoos, eating mom’s spider cookies and watching documentaries on the secrets of the world.

Scott lived in the moment and was a happy-go-lucky, helpful, caring person. Scott loved to laugh and joke around and gave the best hugs. Scott will be missed beyond measure.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held in the chapel on Saturday, June 3rd from 1-2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Burke officiating.

Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
