Wanda Gaile Ward was born May 25, 1938 in Shamrock, Texas the daughter of Doris Estelle
Dunn and Julian Durwood Simpson. She completed this life on Sunday, May 28 th at the age of
85.
Gaile married Carlton Gene Ward in 1958. They moved to Oklahoma City from Texas in 1968.
They were longtime members of the Village Baptist Church and more recently members of First
Baptist Church of Edmond. Her life reflected a deep and abiding love of Christ and His
teachings. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, a prayer warrior, a faithful
servant. She studied to show herself approved. More than just a homemaker, Gaile not only
gave tirelessly of herself to her own family, but to countless others as well. She was humble and
gracious, giving and kind. Above all Gaile was a beloved wife and mother.
Gaile was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Earl Murphy; her brother, David
Murphy; her beloved son, John Carlton Ward and her grandson, Johnathan Brainard
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carlton; her daughters, Molly Jenkins and her
husband Brett of Coyle, OK and Amy Elaine Martinez and her husband, David of Edmond; her
sisters, Sue Park and her husband Denny and Janie Fields and her husband Alton all of Texas;
her grandchildren, Cody Ward, Addison Griffith, Ariel Braswell, Sidney Martinez and Gabriel
Martinez; and her 9 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 31 st at Memorial Park Cemetery in
Oklahoma City with the Rev. Blake Gideon officiating.
