<p>Claude E. Cecil 79, of New Cumberland, passed, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Brightwood Rehabilitation, following a lengthy illness.<br> Born, March 2, 1944, in Prestonburg, KY., he was the son of the late Thurman P. and Mary E. Goble Cecil.<br> He dedicated numerous years as a thoroughbred horse trainer, starting his career at the former Waterford Park now known as Mountaineer Racetrack. He had the honor of breaking and galloping the 1970 KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER DUST COMMANDER &nbsp;FOR TRAINER DON COMBS.<br> He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Jennifer Shannon of Grantville, PA.; son, Tommy Cecil; companion of 20 years, Denise Sanderson; sister, Sue; brothers, James, and Rex Cecil; 4 grandchildren; Allyssa -14,Jennessey-11,twins Jordelys- Jaydon-1.&nbsp;<br> Per Claude's wishes, no services are planned at this time.<br> He is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel. </p>

Born, March 2, 1944, in Prestonburg, KY., he was the son of the late Thurman P. and Mary E. Goble Cecil.
