Toby L. Quin Obituary

Toby L. Quin, 52, of Peoria, formerly of Washington, passed away at 2:47am Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.

  He was born May 11, 1971 in Peoria, IL to Roger L. and Linda G. Quin.  They survive.

  Also surviving is his brother, Robert A. Quin; niece, Elizabeth S. Quin; nephew, Carter R. Quin; and their mother, Melissa A. Quin.  His cat Kiki will miss him greatly.

  Toby was a graduate of Washington Community High School where he graduated Top 10 in his class.  Toby later graduated from Bradley University with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering. He began his engineering career at Caterpillar.  Toby continued his education studying Cobol programming at Illinois State University.  He later received several certifications in his field of work.

 Toby worked at Pekin Insurance as a Software Engineer III for nearly 21 years.  He was the go to guy for many areas within Pekin Insurance’s IT department.

 Toby was a long time active member of the Peoria Jaycees, holding several offices, serving as president in 2005. He was inducted into the Keyman Organization in 2004.  He developed and chaired many Jaycee projects.  He loved golf, weekly bowling nights, Cubs baseball, Bears football, NASCAR, and Bradley basketball.  He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.  Toby enjoyed trivia nights where he made many friends and was known as the “Trivia King”.  He also loved playing poker and pub trivia.  He was quick of whit and always ready with a dad joke.

  Cremation has been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at Washington VFW Thursday June 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist in the formation of an endowed engineering scholarship at Bradley University for a Washington Community High School graduate.  Memorial donations can be made out to “Toby L Quin Memorial Scholarship Fund”.  Checks can be mailed to “Roger Quin, 1105 Westminster Dr, Washington, IL 61571”.
