<p>Wayne John Arthur Moynahan, 76, of Franklinton, passed away May 24, 2023, at Franklin Manor. He was born in Queens County, New York to the late John Moynahan and Elaine McCarthy Moynahan. </p><p>Wayne was born February 16, 1947 in the same hospital in Jamaica, NY, two years and three days ahead of his future wife Kathleen. &nbsp;The family moved to Massapequa, NY where he grew up, went to school, and later owned his own auto repair business. He loved his work and was an ace mechanic. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed competitive skeet shooting at the Brookhaven Range on Long Island, something he became quite good at.&nbsp; </p><p>Wayne and his wife settled in Farmingdale, NY where they raised their three beautiful girls. &nbsp;At retirement, it was time to relocate to NC, where he worked for several years at Dicks Sporting Goods and continued his skeet shooting hobby at the Durham Wildlife Club.&nbsp; </p><p>Friends visited with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023&nbsp;at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. A private inurnment was held at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens. </p><p>Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Kathleen; daughters, Tara Henderson,&nbsp;Erin Post and husband Nathan, and Jaclyn Moynahan; grandchild, Alexander Henderson; extended family and friends.
