<p>THOMPSON, Fred</p><p>Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 23rd at 59 years of age, in Scarborough. He was a loving husband and best friend to Lianne. Beloved father of Andrew (1983-2018), Christopher (Jess), stepfather to Chauntel. Brother of Ross, the late Edward, Jack, Dan, and Joan. Proud grandfather / Papa to Nathan, Colton, Dakota, Aiden, Kyna, Malakai, and Amaris. Widowed by his belated wife Hope Thompson (nee Smith), son-in-law to Irene Galloway (nee Smith), and son to the late Joan and Ross Thompson.</p><p>Fred will always be remembered as a devoted family man. He was an amazing husband, father, papa and friend. Fred was born in Newmarket and was a staple of the community, having worked for over 30 years at Upper Canada Mall and volunteering for the Aurora Tigers and Newmarket Hurricane hockey teams. Fred loved going to the car races at Sunset Speedway, and cheering for his favourite hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs, with his family and friends. He was hard-working and dedicated to the people he loved, always ready with a laugh or giggle just to make you smile and your day a bit brighter. </p><p>He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.</p><p>Visitation will be held at Roadhouse &amp; Rose Funeral Home, Newmarket, on Saturday, June 3 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., with speeches at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the visitation on Saturday, June 3 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Newmarket Veterans’ Association (406 Millard Ave, Newmarket).</p>
