Allen R. Leiphart

<p>YORK- Allen R. Leiphart, 91, died on Friday, May 26, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of Myrtle M. (Spangler) Leiphart to whom he was married for 55 years until her passing on December 10, 2007.</p><p><br></p><p>A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York with the Reverend Ronald Doverspike officiating and full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral cortege will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Born on March 11, 1932 in Craley, he was a son of the late Troy E. and Fannie (Kopp) Leiphart. Allen was a woodworker for York Casket Co. for 42 years until his retirement.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Leiphart served our country in the United States Navy for four years on the USS Fort Mandan. At Longstown Village he was a member of the Veteran’s group and the daily card club. He was also Chairman of the Board of the Driveway Gang. Allen was a devoted band parent of the Dallastown Band. He enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and traveling, especially to Alaska.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Leiphart is survived by his daughter, Denise Anthony and her husband, Robert of National Park, NJ; son, Craig Leiphart and his wife, Heather of York; four grandchildren, Jillian Branyan of National Park, NJ, Hannah Appleby and her husband, Corey of Red Lion, Paul Leiphart and his wife, Amanda of Hershey and Olivia Leiphart and her fiancé, Dario Stanley of York; five great grandchildren, Lukas Branyan, Nathan Branyan, Hayden Smith Leiphart, Oliver Smith Leiphart and Claire Leiphart; two brothers, Ronald Leiphart and his wife, Sandy and Robert Leiphart and his wife, Gail; and his dear companion of 15 years, Alice Abbott of York. He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Pl.
