Carol A. Maher

<p>Shamokin - Carol A. Maher, 75, of 2 N. Rock St., passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community. She was born in Shamokin on May 16, 1947, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Seebold) Wheary.</p><p><br></p><p>She was married to Paul H. Maher, who preceded her in death on July 15, 2020.</p><p><br></p><p>She was employed at Mountain View for many years, most recently in the dietary department.</p><p><br></p><p>Carol loved spending time with her family. She was the strongest person anyone could have ever known.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her loving family, including two daughters and their spouses, Carol and Matt Kitchen, of Shamokin, and Catherine and Christopher Dwulet, of Coal Township; a granddaughter, Darian Paul, of Fairfield, Texas; 3 grandsons, Garrett Kitchen, of Shamokin, Christian Dwulet and Cameron Dwulet, both of Coal Township; a great granddaughter, Cassadee Peters, of Fairfield, Texas; and a brother, Jack Wheary and his wife Connie, of Bethlehem.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Lucas Peters, on July 1, 2019, a brother, Bob Wheary and his wife MaryAnne; and an infant sister.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a religious service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. Rev. Sarah Hershberger, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Shamokin, will preside. Burial of Carol and Paul's cremains will be held privately at a later date at Northumberland Memorial Park.
