Donald Lynn Scott

<p>Donald Lynn Scott was born April 28, 1937, to Lynn Poole Scott and Mildred Ruth (Tiger) Scott in Rigby, Idaho. Don passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at age 86, at Parkview Estates Senior Living Community in Kennewick, Washington.</p><p><br></p><p>Don will be remembered lovingly for his friendliness, adventurous spirit, dedication to supporting his family, love of life, and ability to build or fix almost anything.</p><p><br></p><p>Don grew up in Rigby, Blackfoot, and Salmon Idaho. As a senior at Salmon High School, he was selected for the 1955 National Directory of Honor Students in U.S. Secondary Schools. Don excelled at basketball and baseball for Blackfoot and Salmon High Schools. He met Mary Snook at Salmon High School, and they were married on December 31, 1959. They celebrated 61 years together until her passing on October 15, 2020. Don proudly served in the U.S. Marines for four years, from 1956-1959. He studied aviation and electronics fundamentals, and became an aircraft electricianbased at Air Station El Toro, California.</p><p><br></p><p>Don and Mary and sons Steve and Bill lived in Blackfoot, ID for many years. Don retired as a Master Technician from Idaho National Laboratory, located in the Idaho desert between Idaho Falls, Blackfoot and Arco, Idaho. In 2003 after they had both retired, they relocated back to Salmon, Idaho where they built the house of their dreams.</p><p><br></p><p>Don was a skilled electrician and very mechanical. When the family wanted a color television Don did not buy one, he built one. Don loved exploring the mountains, deserts, lakes and rivers of Idaho and neighboring states. He enjoyed fishing in our wonderful rivers, streams and lakes, water skiing, snowmobiling, and four wheeling. He also took great pride in maintaining his yard. Don and family built a cabin at Palisades Reservoir near Alpine, Wyoming where they enjoyed being in the mountains and visiting with friends and family. He followed sports at all levels, especially baseball, basketball, and football. Steve and Bill were always extremely proud of their father, and he will be sincerely missed.</p><p><br></p><p>Don was preceded in death by his parents&nbsp; Lynn Poole Scott and Mildred Ruth (Tiger) Scott, wife Mary Charlotte (Snook) Scott, sisters Joann (Scott) Fix and Geraldine “Jerri” (Scott) Pyeatt, and daughter in law Kathryn (Schreiber) Scott. Don is survived by sons Steven Lynn Scott (Valerie) of Kennewick, Washington, and William John Scott (Kathy) of Eagle, Idaho, granddaughter Laurel Elizabeth (Scott) Welch (Greg) of Parker, Colorado, grandson Chuck (Kate) Schultz of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and Tom Schultz of Cranston, Rhode Island. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Scott) Glod (Stan) of Triangle, Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>A service to celebrate the lives of both Don and Mary Scott will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 11:00 am at Church of the Redeemer in Salmon, Idaho (https://redeemer.dioidaho.org/).
