Cathleen “Cathie” Ernest died peacefully on May 24th at her daughter’s home in Ottawa, IL.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Sunday June 4, 2023 at the Ottawa First Assembly of God Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Cathie was born on November 27, 1951, to Perry Jr. and Peggy (Gill) Elliott. Cathie grew up in Downers Grove, IL, and graduated from Downers Grove South High School in 1969. In 1970 she welcomed a daughter, Lori, and married her only husband, James Ernest.

In 1981 she began her 20-year career as a Legal Secretary at the Law firm Sidley and Austin in Chicago. A job she was very proud of. Also, in 1981, Cathleen found her way back to the Lord and enjoyed attending The First Assembly of God church in Ottawa, IL, and the warm friendships her fellow church members provided. She loved shopping, buying gifts for others, dancing, music, the holidays, good food, reading the bible, socialization, and conversation. Most of all, she loved her family and friends deeply. Cathie had a kind, generous heart, and the sweetest smile.

She is survived by her daughter Lori (David) Cooke, Grandchildren Zack (Abby), Maggie, and Jesse. Her dear friends Lori, Cindy, and Lynn. Her sister Gayle, beloved nieces Jacqueline, Dani, Sierra, and nephew Michael and former son- in law Mike Okray.

Cathie is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Charles, and Ora (Laughead) Gill, her parents, and her husband.
