<p>Octavia Brown of Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023.&nbsp; </p><p>Octavia Brown was born in Georgetown, South Carolina to the late Marion Bromell, Sr. and Eva Mae White Bromell on October 28, 1937. She departed her earthly life peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. </p><p>Octavia was educated in the public schools of Georgetown County. She was a faithful member of Mt, Olive AME Church where she sang on the Senior Choir, served on the Usher Board, and Missionary Society, and was a member of the Merry Evening Gospel Singers. In 1998, Octavia was crowned Mother of the Year. In 2016, she was named Mrs. Senior Pearls. Her community affiliations included memberships with the Rosebud Tent #23 and the Ladies Supper Club of Myrtle Beach. </p><p>In the early years, Octavia was employed with Ocean View Hospital, currently named Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Later she retired from Belk Department Stores where she worked for many years. </p><p>Octavia dedicated her life to serving God and serving her loved ones. In her free time, Octavia enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking. Her special dishes were rice and gravy, collard greens, lima beans, and her famous banana pudding.&nbsp; </p><p>In addition to her parents, Octavia was preceded in death by her son, Brett, and three siblings, Marion Bromell, Jr., Truman Bromell, and Jackson Bromell. </p><p>Octavia leaves to cherish her fond memory her loving husband Lester Brown, Sr.; seven children, Celestine Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Mary (James) Pryor of Conway, South Carolina, Lester (Twanna) Brown, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jacqueline Spivey and Rickey Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Roger (Maria) Brown of Chadbourn, North Carolina and Brent (Lisa) Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sisters, Louise Ford and Roberta (Willie) Porcher of Plantersville, South Carolina; one brother, Harold Nwise) Bromell of Plantersville, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Modestine of Hartsville, South Carolina, Gladys Bromell and Dorothy Bromell of Plantersville, South Carolina; one aunt, Pearline Bromell of Plantersville, South Carolina; 35 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives. Octavia also leaves behind a good friend, Ms. Jennie Mae Spivey, and a special great-grandson, Rashad Feaster of the Home. </p><p>Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Mt. Olive AME Church.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery.&nbsp; There will be a visitation from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel. </p>

Octavia Brown of Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023.
