Obituary
Vi Jackson, 93 year old Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday May 31, 2023 in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Violet Eva (Schneider) Jackson was born on March 6, 1930 in Woodward County. She was the youngest of three children born to Fred F. and Theresa (Lochman) Schneider. Violet attended elementary and high school in Woodward, graduating in 1948. During this time, she cultivated lifelong, cherished friendships with Martha Logan, Betty Semmel, and Dortha Eddings. Violet survived Woodward's catastrophic tornado in April, 1947, and retained lasting memories of this event.
Violet was employed at the Stock Exchange Bank in Woodward for 26 years, completing her employment there as a teller. In March, 1974, she became a deputy in the office of the Woodward County Court Clerk, where she served for 18 years.
Throughout her life, Violet was a member of the Noon Business and Professional Women's Club. Following retirement she volunteered with school programs and traveled with friends.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, participating in United Methodist Women's circles and serving on the church administrative board and various committees.
Violet married J.D. Jackson of Sharon, Oklahoma, on January 28, 1956. They raised two daughters, Gail Rae and J'Dena Kae. J.D. died in 1986, after celebrating 35 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her older brother's, Phil and his wife Betty, and Allen, her aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Anna Martin, father and mother-in-law, Ray and Willia Mae Jackson, brother-in-law, Bill R. Jackson and wife Beth.
Those left to mourn are her family, Gail and Larry Bolado; J'Dena and David Leahy; grandchildren, Patrick Leahy and Caroline and Ryan Stringer; great-grandson, Jackson Stringer; sister-in-law, Betty Schneider; several nieces, and nephews other family and friends. She was blessed later in her life with special friends and care givers: Belinda Ward, Tina Whitworth, Becky Ware, and special neighbor, Beverly Littau.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to WOOF Pet Rescue with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
