Donelda (Dolly) Wilson Obituary

Donelda (Dolly) Wilson age 81 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan died on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre.


She was born at Shaunavon on August 8, 1941. Dolly was home schooled on her family’s ranch in the Whitemud River Valley and then took grade 11 and 12 at Shaunavon High School. She attended teacher’s college and then taught at Churchbridge. She married Bernard Wilson at Scotsguard on February 24, 1968. She lived and farmed at Scotsguard until 2015 when she became a resident of Shaunavon Long Term Care. She enjoyed bowling, had been a 4H Beef Leader for a few years and enjoyed playing music and singing. She played guitar and played for the Thursday night old time dances at the Legion Hall and at the Long Term Care Home. She enjoyed camping and fishing and liked to read.


She was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 2006 and her parents John and Margaret Bate.


She is survived by her son Mike of Scotsguard; daughter Trish Hattum (Frank Rutledge) of Swift Current, grandson Cody (Ashley Banman) and great grandchildren Asher and Porter and granddaughter Jenny all of the LacPelletier area; daughter Colleen Ruest (Frank) of Admiral; and brother Peter Bate of Shaunavon.


Funeral Services were held from the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Shaunavon on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. Interment took place at St. Mary’s R. C. Cemetery at Shaunavon. Pallbearers were Cody Hattum, Jenny Hattum, Dave McCune, Sean Wilson, Brian Pearl and Kent Sicotte.
