Greenwood - On May 15, 2023 Gordon L. Morgan loving Father, Brother, Papa and Companion passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at his home on Patch Mountain Road in Greenwood with his loving family by his side.

Gordon was born on Patch Mountain Road in Greenwood on February 14, 1935 to Roy Nelson Morgan and Anna Lowe Morgan.

On August 10, 1958 he married the love of his life, Joan D. Cox. Together they raised 4 children. Kim, Robin, Martin and Vanessa.

Gordon attended West Paris High School and had many stories about his basketball days and friendships that he had with classmates to this day. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1954 to 1961 during the Korean Conflict.

Throughout his life, he worked as a mason with his father, at Stowells Mill in Locke Mills and International Paper in Jay as a boiler operator, retiring at the age of 55.

Gordon was an avid craftsman. He had a state of the art woodworking shop and that was his happy place. There was nothing that he couldn’t build. He also enjoyed baking, especially if it was with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Papa Suppa’s were always time for good food, cribbage games, conversations, and laughs.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Joan, his brother Wallace Morgan, Sister Ruth Leino and Daughter Kim Blubaugh.

He is survived by his Companion Carolyn Chadwick, Children Robin Foster and husband Jim, Martin Morgan and his favorite daughter in law Pam, and Vanessa Morgan. His Big Brother Owen Morgan and wife Polly. Grandchildren, Brandi Thompson, Shawn Roak, Kylie Roak, William Rolfe & fiancé Alli Conley, Whitney Rolfe & David Blaquiere, Anastasia Hill, and Gene Hill. Great grandchildren Dylan, Anaiah, Jada, Brandon, Madilyn, and Serenity. Also, Special friend and neighbor Jerry Stevens and Special Nephew Donnie Morgan and his wife Pam.

Gordon was loved by everyone who met him. He was always a hugger and true sweetheart. We would like to thank Dr. Wilson, Jen Blastow, and the whole oxford Hills Internal Medicine team, especially Lori. Also thank you to the Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice, though he went quickly, we deeply appreciate your help with his care during this time. A special thank you to Katie and Tina.

We will be having a celebration of his life on June 11, 2023 at the South Paris Fire Station from 2:00 – 4:00. Please dress casual as he really wasn’t a dress up kinda guy.
